Cafe Gecko Richardson is a true family-run neighborhood spot, built on good food and drinks, cold beverages, and a whole lot of community spirit. Owners Gretchen and Ted opened the restaurant with their daughter Emily, who now serves as General Manager and helps keep everything running smoothly day to day.

The Gecko story actually began long before our doors opened here in Richardson. Back in the day, Gretchen worked at the original Cafe Gecko — a job that sparked her love for the restaurant world and planted the seed for what would eventually become our family’s own version of that same local hangout. When the opportunity arose to open a Cafe Gecko in Richardson, she and Ted eagerly seized the chance to bring that sense of fun, hospitality, and connection to their hometown.

Family has always been at the heart of everything we do. Our kids grew up in Richardson, attended J.J. Pearce High School, and have been an integral part of this community from the start. You’ll still find us supporting local schools, sports teams, and community events — because this is home for us. The people who walk through our doors aren’t just customers; they’re neighbors, friends, and familiar faces who make this place special.
